Mitchell High School Girls Golf Team Sweeps Pierre Invitational

The Mitchell High School girls golf team continued their winning streak at the Pierre Invitational, claiming both team and individual honors for the second time in a row. The Kernels dominated the competition at the 10-team event held at Hillsview Golf Club, finishing with a team score of 320 and securing a 13-stroke lead over runner-up Aberdeen Central.

Leading the charge for Mitchell were Allison Meyerink and Maddie Childs, who took the top two individual spots in the invitational. Meyerink clinched her second event win with a stellar 1-under round of 70, while Childs followed closely behind with a 1-over round of 72, boasting five birdies on the day.

The rest of the Kernels also put up strong performances, with Quinn Dannenbring finishing 15th, Anna Eliason in 23rd, Mia Larson in 27th, and Londyn Hajek in 33rd. Aberdeen Central secured second place with a team score of 333, followed by Watertown in third with 336.

Winner Area also participated in the event, finishing in eighth place with a team score of 432. Mitchell will now prepare for the Hub City Girls Invite at Moccasin Creek Country Club in Aberdeen on April 25th.

The Mitchell High School girls golf team’s impressive performance at the Pierre Invitational sets the stage for an exciting season ahead as they continue to showcase their talent and dominance on the course.
