Minot High Girls Track and Field Shines at Glee Mayer Invitational

Bismarck High Dominates Glee Mayer Invitational in Minot

Several schools braved the windy conditions to compete in the Glee Mayer Invitational held at Duane Carlson Stadium in Minot for a girls track and field competition. Bismarck High emerged as the top team with 166 points, followed by Bismarck Century in second with 120 points and Minot High in third with 115 points. Nine teams in total participated in the event, including Minot North, Dickinson, Bismarck Legacy, Mandan, Watford City, and Williston.

Minot High and Minot North showcased their talent in the 3200-meter run, with Minot High’s eighth grader Kaylee Jackson taking first place with a time of 12:23.97. Minot High sophomore Scout Ulrickson followed closely in second place with a time of 12:33.21. Minot North’s eighth graders Alyviah Kopp and Makenna Jackson also performed well, finishing fifth and seventh respectively, while Majette eighth grader Grace Burdick secured eighth place in the race.

In the hurdles events, Minot High’s sophomore Eve Knutson claimed victory in the 300 hurdles with a time of 47.64. Junior teammate Haley Conklin finished fourth in the same race. Conklin also excelled in the 100 hurdles, taking second place with a time of 16.76, while sophomore Monica Boakye finished third. Minot High’s Makayla Whitfield and Kadyn Braun also put on a strong showing in the sprints, with Whitfield securing second place in the 200 and third in the 100, and Braun finishing eighth in the 100.

The relay events saw Minot High’s teams performing well, with a second-place finish in the 4×100 relay and the 4×200 relay. The team of Boakye, Whitfield, Burke, and Knutson ran a 1:49.82 in the 4×200 relay. Minot High’s Kaylee Jackson, Nicole Couture, Mandy Schmidt, and Ulrickson also secured second place in the 4×800 relay.

Overall, the Glee Mayer Invitational showcased the impressive talent and determination of the participating teams. The next girls track and field meet will be the Jamestown Meet on April 23, followed by the Dickinson Boys & Girls meet on April 27.
