South Hamilton Girls Shine at Hawkette Relays

The South Hamilton girls track team put on an impressive performance at the Hawkette Relays on Tuesday night, showcasing their talent in front of the home crowd. Despite a strong showing from Roland-Story, the Hawks managed to secure several first place finishes and podium spots in various events.

Daytona Ferrie and Kendra Hoversten dominated the throwing events, with Ferrie taking first in the discus and Hoversten claiming the shot put title. The duo’s strong performances helped the team earn valuable points in the overall standings.

The sprint medley relay team of Sydnee Flaugh, Makena Galetich, Tanna Thompson, and Ashlyn Erickson secured a gold medal with an impressive time of 2:00.64, winning the event by a significant margin. The 4×400 relay team also clinched first place, showcasing the team’s depth and talent in relay events.

Individual standout performances included Thompson’s second place finish in the 400 meters and Kayley Zanker’s silver medal in the 3,000 meters. The team also secured second place finishes in the 4×100, 4×200, 4×800, and distance medley relays, highlighting their consistency across multiple events.

With the Drake Relays on the horizon, the South Hamilton girls track team is gearing up for another opportunity to showcase their skills on a bigger stage. Their strong showing at the Hawkette Relays serves as a testament to their hard work and dedication throughout the season.
