Monumental Sports & Entertainment Nominated for 16 Capital Emmy Awards
Excitement is building as the National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced that Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) has received an impressive 16 nominations for the upcoming Capital Emmy Awards. The nominations recognize the outstanding work of individuals in front of and behind the camera across Monumental Sports Network (MNMT) and MSE’s productions team for their work throughout 2023.
The Capital Emmys, which have been awarded for over six decades, celebrate excellence in the television profession across all media platforms in the national capital area. Monumental Sports & Entertainment President of Media & New Enterprises, Zach Leonsis, expressed his excitement about the nominations, stating, “The Capital Emmys represent the highest honor for the television industry within our region of the country and we are ecstatic to be nominated for 16 awards this year.”
Some of the notable nominations for Monumental Sports & Entertainment include Sports Story – Long Form Content: Drafting Ryan Leonard, Sports Program – Live for both Capitals Pregame Live and Mystics Pregame Live, and Talent nominations for individuals such as Alexa Landestoy and Joe Beninati.
Monumental Sports Network, previously known as NBC Sports Washington, has a history of success at the Capital Emmys, having won more than 40 awards in the past 10 seasons. MSE Productions, the in-house production arm of Monumental Sports & Entertainment, has also been recognized with nominations and wins in previous years.
The winners of this year’s Capital Emmy Awards will be announced during the 66th Emmy Awards Gala on June 22 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Bethesda, MD.
Monumental Sports Network has seen significant growth in recent years, including the acquisition of NBC Sports Washington and the launch of direct-to-consumer subscription memberships for viewers. The network offers a wide range of programming, including live sports events and original content.
With the upcoming awards gala on the horizon, Monumental Sports & Entertainment is poised to showcase the talent and creativity that has earned them 16 nominations for this year’s Capital Emmys.
