23 individuals charged and 13 arrested in joint operation focusing on trespassing, theft, and other criminal activities

Joint Operation Leads to Arrests and Charges in Asheville Border Area Crime Crackdown

The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office and Asheville Police Department recently conducted a joint operation targeting reported crimes on the border of city limits, resulting in nearly two dozen people being charged and 13 arrested.

The special operation was initiated in response to community complaints about trespassing, theft, public intoxication, and drug-related activity, particularly in the Airport Road area. In total, 23 people were charged, 13 were arrested, ten warrants were served, and 32 new charges were filed, including five felonies.

Among those arrested were individuals facing charges such as misdemeanor larceny, possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of controlled substances, carrying a concealed gun, and driving while license revoked. Additionally, citations were issued for offenses such as expired registration, expired inspection, and resist, obstruct, or delay.

“We appreciate the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office for their invaluable participation in this targeted operation,” stated the Asheville Police Department in a news release. “Their collaboration significantly enhanced our efforts to address the concerns raised by our community.”

The joint operation serves as a reminder of law enforcement’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents in Asheville and surrounding areas.
