Valtteri Bottas Qualifies for 2024 UCI Gravel World Championships

Valtteri Bottas, the Formula 1 driver for Sauber, traded in his four wheels for two during his weekend break before the Miami Grand Prix. The Finnish driver, who has had a challenging start to the 2024 season and is yet to score a point, participated in an endurance cycling race in South Africa.

Bottas took part in the Swartberg 100 Gran Fondo, a 170km gravel bike race, and finished sixth in his age group. This achievement confirmed his qualification for the 2024 UCI Gravel World Championships, a goal he had set for himself as he takes his cycling seriously.

His girlfriend, Australian cyclist Tiffany Cromwell, also raced in the event and won the women’s race. Bottas shared on social media that he raced for the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing drowning and saving lives. He announced that his race gear would be auctioned off to support the foundation’s causes.

Despite facing engine trouble in the Chinese Grand Prix, Bottas showed his determination and athleticism by excelling in the cycling race. Fans are eagerly awaiting to see how he will perform in the upcoming Miami Grand Prix after his weekend break on two wheels.
