Violent Clashes in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir: Three Civilians Killed as Protests Turn Deadly

The situation in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir took a deadly turn as three civilians were killed and several others injured after the Pakistani Rangers opened fire on protesters. The incident occurred during a demonstration against rising prices in the region.

The tensions escalated following a non-cooperation movement that began a year ago to protest against increasing electricity bills and flour prices. The peaceful protest turned violent when local police and federal forces cracked down on the protesters, leading to clashes and injuries.

Videos circulating on social media showed civilians attacking police officers, and the situation worsened when the rangers were called in to maintain law and order. The rangers faced stone-pelting and responded with tear gas and firing, resulting in the tragic deaths of three civilians.

The protests, led by traders under the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) banner, have been demanding electricity provisions, subsidised wheat, and an end to privileges for the elites. The clashes and violence have sparked a large-scale strike in the region.

The government has taken steps to address some of the protesters’ demands, including reducing electricity tariffs and the cost of flour bags. However, the situation remains tense as the protests continue. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
