During his one-day visit to Sri Lanka on Wednesday, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi made a strong statement regarding the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Raisi emphasized the need for Israel to be held accountable for its actions in the Palestinian territories, stating that if justice is not served, it sets a dangerous precedent for other conflicts around the world.

“When it comes to the oppressor, when it comes to the usurper, the Zionist Israeli regime has been committing oppression against the people of Palestine for 75 years, they have been usurping their territory,” Raisi said.

Raisi’s visit to Sri Lanka also included the inauguration of a hydropower and irrigation project, showcasing Iran’s technological capabilities and commitment to international cooperation. The project, which was constructed with Iranian technical assistance, will provide significant benefits to the local community, including increased electricity production and irrigation for agricultural purposes.

In addition to the infrastructure project, Raisi and Sri Lanka’s President Ranil Wickremesinghe signed several memoranda of understanding covering various areas of cooperation, including tourism, science, media, films, and sports.

Overall, Raisi’s visit to Sri Lanka has underscored the importance of international cooperation and justice in resolving conflicts and promoting sustainable development.
