Former MLB Player Dustan Mohr Sentenced for Sex Crimes Against Girl, 13

Former MLB player Dustan Mohr was sentenced to 9 years in an Indiana jail for sex crimes against a teenage girl he was trusted to train in softball. The 47-year-old was found guilty of sexually fondling the 13-year-old girl multiple times over a six-month span. The victim’s family had hired Mohr to provide softball lessons at a training center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, believing it was a safe place for children. However, Mohr took advantage of the girl during their training sessions, even providing her with a separate phone to communicate and share private images.

The girl’s father described Mohr as a “monster” and asked for the maximum sentence of 18 years, but Mohr was ultimately sentenced to 9 years in prison for three felony charges. The victim, now 15 years old, spoke out about the abuse she suffered and the impact it had on her mental health. Mohr, a former outfielder who played for teams like the Minnesota Twins and Colorado Rockies, was arrested in August 2023 and pleaded guilty to the charges in March.

This case highlights the importance of protecting young athletes and ensuring that those in positions of trust are held accountable for their actions. The victim’s family hopes that the sentence will give their daughter a chance to heal and move forward from the trauma she experienced.
