Live Updates from Day 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft: Second and Third Round Picks, Trades, Grades, and News from Detroit

2024 NFL Draft Recap: Record-Breaking First Round Dominated by Offense

The 2024 NFL Draft kicked off with a bang as a record-breaking 23 offensive players were selected in the first round, including a streak of 14 consecutive offensive players to start the draft. This offensive-heavy first round marked a historic moment in the annual player selection meeting.

While the first overall pick was no surprise, with Caleb Williams going to the Chicago Bears, the Atlanta Falcons made a shocking move by selecting quarterback Michael Penix Jr. with the eighth overall pick. This unexpected pick raised eyebrows, especially considering the Falcons had recently signed Kirk Cousins to a lucrative contract.

Quarterbacks also made a splash in the first round, with six of them being selected, matching the legendary 1983 class. The quarterback frenzy culminated with Bo Nix being picked by the Denver Broncos with the 12th overall pick.

As the draft moves into the second and third rounds, the Buffalo Bills hold the first pick of the second round at No. 33 overall. The draft will continue on Friday, with rounds two and three set to take place.
