Philip Barbour rallies for 7-4 win over Elkins in Big 10 Conference action at EHS Field

Philip Barbour’s thrilling comeback win over Elkins in Big 10 Conference action on Tuesday night has baseball fans buzzing. The Colts rallied for four runs in the seventh inning to secure a 7-4 victory at EHS Field.

The game started with Philip Barbour taking an early lead, but Elkins fought back with three runs in the fourth inning to take a 3-1 lead. The Colts responded with runs in the fifth and sixth innings to keep the game close.

In the seventh inning, Philip Barbour exploded offensively, sending eight batters to the plate and scoring four runs to take the lead for good. Kent Rowan closed out the game by striking out the side after allowing a leadoff walk in the bottom of the inning.

Tyler Sisson’s solo homer in the third inning and solid pitching performances from Grant Harris and Kent Rowan were key factors in the Colts’ victory. Elkins’ Ethan Humphrey and Brock Holland had strong performances as well, but it wasn’t enough to hold off Philip Barbour’s late surge.

With the win, Philip Barbour improved to 9-8 on the season and will face Liberty next. Elkins, on the other hand, will look to bounce back in their next game against Fairmont Senior.

In other baseball news, Elkins’ Ethan Humphrey had a standout performance in a 15-5 win against Pendleton County on Monday, going 4 for 4 with two RBIs. The Wildcats, now 7-7 on the season, will face East Hardy next.

Overall, it was an exciting week of baseball in the Big 10 Conference, with plenty of action and standout performances to keep fans on the edge of their seats.
