White Golfers Dominate Mid-Minn Tournament in Area Boys Golf – Brainerd Dispatch

Staples-Motley Cardinals dominate Mid-Minn Conference meet, Pierz Pioneers finish sixth in Granite Ridge Conference

The Staples-Motley Cardinals dominated the Mid-Minn Conference golf meet on Tuesday, April 23, with junior Carter White leading the charge. White’s impressive bogey-free round, which included three birdies, resulted in a 3-under 69, securing the individual medalist title for the day.

White’s stellar performance propelled the Cardinals to a 32-stroke victory, with teammate Grant Bestland also contributing a strong round of 81 to secure second place. Jackson White and Peyton Mithun finished fifth and seventh, respectively, helping the team achieve a total score of 325.

Crosby-Ironton/Aitkin and Pine River-Backus also put up solid performances, with Louie Meyer leading the former to a second-place finish and Isaiah Aulie leading the latter to third place.

Meanwhile, in Pierz, Nathan Cekalla shone for the Pioneers with consistent rounds of 38 and 39, finishing second overall with a combined score of 77. Despite Cekalla’s efforts, Pierz landed in sixth place in the Granite Ridge Conference meet.

The Pequot Lakes Patriots and Little Falls Flyers also showcased their skills, with Hunter Oelschlager and Ryan Oothoudt leading their respective teams to third and fifth place finishes.

Overall, it was a day of impressive performances and strong team showings on the golf course. The competition was fierce, but these young athletes rose to the challenge and showcased their talent and dedication to the sport. The next meet promises to be just as exciting, with teams gearing up to compete once again.
