Quality Health Network’s Healthier Together Summit Highlights 20 Years of Service and Future Goals

The Quality Health Network (QHN) recently held its annual Healthier Together Summit, celebrating 20 years of serving western Colorado and looking towards the future. The summit brought together leaders in the medical field to discuss innovative practices and predictions for community health and healthcare.

One of the keynote speakers, Kim Bimestefer, the Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing, highlighted the challenges facing Colorado’s healthcare system, including rising costs and social determinants of health. Bimestefer emphasized the importance of addressing non-medical factors that impact health, such as housing affordability.

One of the solutions discussed at the summit was a tool developed by QHN that allows healthcare providers to prescribe community and government resources to address social determinants of health. This tool aims to provide patients with access to resources like housing vouchers and food assistance, in addition to traditional medical treatments.

Another highlight of the summit was the discussion between QHN CEO Marc Lassaux and Contexture CEO Melissa Kotrys about the potential affiliation of their health information exchanges. The affiliation would expand QHN’s coverage area into Colorado’s Front Range and Arizona, allowing for greater coordination of patient care and wellness promotion.

Overall, the Healthier Together Summit provided a platform for healthcare leaders to share insights and collaborate on improving community health. Attendees also had the opportunity to connect with over 25 different community health organizations at a resource fair, further emphasizing the importance of collaboration and awareness in healthcare.
