Meta Introduces Next-Generation AI Assistant Powered by Meta Llama 3

Meta has unveiled the latest version of its artificial intelligence (AI) assistant, Meta AI, which is powered by the advanced large language model Meta Llama 3. This new assistant is free to use and can be accessed on popular platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. Additionally, Meta AI is now available on the web at meta.ai for use on computers.

The company announced that Meta AI is expanding its availability to more countries, offering its services in English in over a dozen new locations outside the United States. These updates are currently limited to Meta AI on social media platforms and the web, but the assistant will soon be accessible on Meta Quest and Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses.

Meta highlighted the improved capabilities of Meta AI, stating that with the latest large language model, the assistant is more powerful than ever. Users can expect faster image generation, with images being produced as they type. This feature is currently in beta on WhatsApp and the Meta AI website in the U.S.

One of the key advantages of Meta AI is its integration into Meta’s apps, allowing users to access real-time information without leaving the app. For example, users can plan a ski trip in a Messenger group chat and use Meta AI to find flights and determine the best time to visit, all within the Messenger app.

Meta initially launched the beta version of Meta AI in September 2023, touting its ability to provide real-time information and generate photorealistic images from text prompts. With the latest updates and enhancements, Meta AI aims to further enhance user experiences and streamline access to information across various platforms.
