Young Norway Knights Fall to Hancock Bulldogs in Doubleheader at Hancock Driving Park
The Hancock Bulldogs showed their resilience and experience as they swept a doubleheader against the Norway Knights at the Hancock Driving Park on Thursday afternoon. Despite the Knights taking early leads in both games, the Bulldogs managed to come from behind and secure victories.
In the first game, the Knights jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but the Bulldogs responded by scoring 12 of the next 13 runs to win 12-2. The Bulldogs’ designated hitter Megan Pelto was the standout player, hitting a two-run home run to help drive the offense.
In the second game, the Knights again took a 2-0 lead, but the Bulldogs rallied back to score five runs and secure a 5-2 victory. Pitcher Sadie Biekkola was instrumental in both games, striking out 11 batters in the first game and contributing offensively in the second.
Hancock coach Craig Biekkola praised his team’s ability to battle back and close out the games, emphasizing the importance of playing until the final out. On the other hand, Norway coach Bob Hulce acknowledged the learning curve for his young team, noting that facing strong opponents like Hancock exposes areas for improvement.
The Bulldogs, with a record of 9-1 overall, will next face off against Calumet at home on Tuesday. The Knights, with a record of 8-7 overall, will look to bounce back in their next game after the tough losses.
