United States Bolsters Ukraine’s Defence with Vital Arms and Ammunition amid Russian Invasion
The United States has taken a significant step in supporting Ukraine in its defense against the ongoing Russian invasion. President Joe Biden signed a National Security Supplemental aid package worth USD 95.3 billion to provide vital arms and ammunition to Ukraine, as well as support Israel and enhance security in the Indo-Pacific region.
Highlighting Russia’s intensified airstrikes on Ukrainian cities, Biden emphasized America’s commitment to providing necessary supplies to bolster Ukraine’s defense efforts. The aid package includes air-defense munitions, artillery, rocket systems, and armored vehicles, among other equipment.
Secretary of State Tony Blinken announced an additional aid package valued at up to USD 1 billion, which includes air defense missiles, munitions, artillery rounds, armored vehicles, and other essential capabilities to help Ukraine defend its territory and protect its people.
The Pentagon stated that the aid package will strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities by delivering munitions, weapons, and equipment to fortify its frontlines and counter Russia’s ongoing assaults. With bipartisan support from Congress, the U.S. is working alongside 50 allies and partners to ensure Ukraine receives vital security assistance to combat Russian aggression.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to the United States for the support, stating, “I am thankful to the people of America… I hope that you and the Americans will feel the result of their help, a resolve to save Ukraine and Ukrainians.” The aid delivery marks a significant milestone in the ongoing conflict, with the U.S. and its allies standing firm in their support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and security.
