Latest Updates on Ukraine-Russia Conflict: Russia Threatens Europe with Retaliation over Asset Seizures; UK to Unveil Largest Military Aid Package for Ukraine

US House Passes $60.8bn Aid Bill for Ukraine: What You Need to Know

The US House of Representatives has passed a major aid bill for Ukraine, bringing the country closer to receiving much-needed support in its ongoing conflict with Russia. The $60.8 billion bill, which had been delayed by Republican lawmakers aligned with former President Donald Trump, was finally approved after a cross-party effort broke the deadlock.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for the decision, as his country faces increasing pressure from Russian forces. Recent advances by Russian troops have put Ukraine at a disadvantage, with key towns and villages falling under Russian control.

The aid bill is seen as crucial in helping Ukraine defend itself against further Russian aggression. Military analysts warn that if certain towns, such as Chasiv Yar, were to fall, it could open up Ukraine to even more attacks.

Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of quickly receiving weapons from the US, as delays could further deteriorate the situation on the ground. NATO has also pledged to send more air defenses to Ukraine in response to escalating Russian attacks on civilians.

Meanwhile, spy scandals involving Russia continue to unfold in Europe, with Germany and Poland both arresting individuals accused of spying for Russia. The head of NATO has confirmed the expulsion of Russian nationals engaged in intelligence gathering activities.

As the aid bill moves to the US Senate for approval, all eyes are on the swift delivery of weapons and support to Ukraine, as the country continues to fight for its sovereignty against Russian aggression.
