Tragic Death of Illinois Student Marko Niketic in Suspected Drunk Driving Crash

The tragic story of 17-year-old Marko Niketic, who was killed just weeks before his high school graduation by a suspected drunk driver, has left the community in mourning. The incident occurred in a Chicago suburb when a speeding car split Niketic’s vehicle in two, resulting in his untimely death.

The driver, Taeyoung Kim, 21, was reportedly driving at over 120 mph when he crashed into Niketic’s car as the teen was making a left turn at an intersection. The impact was so severe that Niketic’s sedan was split into two, with the front half remaining on the road and the back half landing in a nearby backyard.

Tragically, Niketic’s girlfriend, who was in the car with him, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Kim’s passenger also sustained severe injuries in the crash.

Kim, who was found to have alcohol and cannabis in his system at the time of the crash, has been arrested and hit with multiple charges, including reckless homicide and aggravated DUI resulting in death. He is currently being held without bond, awaiting his next court date.
