APSU Softball suffers losses in doubleheader against Queens – Clarksville Online
APSU Softball Falls to Queens in Doubleheader at Cathi Maynard Park-Cheryl Holt Field
The Austin Peay State University (APSU) softball team faced a tough doubleheader against Queens, with standout player Mea Clark leading the charge with three hits, including a double and a home run, along with three RBIs. Despite her impressive performance, the Governors fell short in both games, losing by 4-2 and 7-2 finals.
In the first game, Austin Peay fell behind early to Queens, giving up runs in the first, third, and fifth innings. Clark’s home run in the fifth inning brought the Govs within striking distance, but they couldn’t muster enough offense to overcome the deficit.
The second game saw Queens jump out to an early lead, with the Governors trying to rally back with runs in the second and seventh innings. However, Queens’ consistent scoring proved too much for APSU to handle.
Despite the losses, there were some notable milestones reached during the games. Kendyl Weinzapfel recorded her 150th career hit, becoming the 18th player in program history to reach that milestone. Additionally, the first game marked the 450th game played at Cathi Maynard Park-Cheryl Holt Field.
Fans can catch the next game between APSU and Queens tomorrow at 1:00pm at Cathi Maynard Park-Cheryl Holt Field. For more information on APSU softball and ticket information, visit LetsGoPeay.com.
