Russia’s 25,000 Troops Attempting to Storm Chasiv Yar Area: Ukraine’s Military
Russia’s 25,000 troops are currently attempting to storm the eastern Ukrainian town of Chasiv Yar and surrounding villages, Ukraine’s military reported on Monday. The situation in the area has been described as difficult, with Ukraine maintaining full control of Chasiv Yar, a strategically important location in the partially-occupied Donetsk region.
According to Kyiv’s top commander, Russia is aiming to capture the town by May 9, which marks Soviet Victory Day in World War Two. The ongoing conflict has intensified, with Ukraine’s military spokesperson, Nazar Voloshyn, stating that approximately 20,000-25,000 Russian troops are involved in the attempted storming of Chasiv Yar and its outskirts.
The potential capture of Chasiv Yar would bring Russia closer to the strategically significant cities of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk, currently under Ukrainian control. Despite the challenging circumstances, long-awaited U.S. military assistance is expected to reach Ukraine soon, alleviating critical ammunition shortages.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy expressed optimism about the situation, stating that the necessary assistance will help stabilize the conflict. As tensions escalate in the region, the international community continues to monitor the situation closely.
