Fianna Fail Leader Calls for Attention to Kenova Inquiry Report at 1916 Commemorations

Fianna Fail leader Micheál Martin has called for more attention to be given to the recently published Kenova inquiry report, which examines unresolved cases of killings and other crimes. Speaking at the annual Fianna Fail 1916 Commemorations in Arbour Hill, Martin emphasized the importance of transparency and justice for victims and their families.

He criticized the lack of acknowledgment of past crimes and the continued silence surrounding the actions of the Provisional IRA. Martin highlighted the need for accountability and the rejection of collusion and violence as legitimate responses. He also called out political leaders who he believes continue to honor perpetrators of heinous crimes.

Martin expressed his disagreement with the notion that reconciliation on the island of Ireland is not a priority, emphasizing the importance of understanding others and building connections for a better future. He urged for a sincere and open acknowledgment of past wrongdoings in order to heal the deep trauma experienced by those affected.

The Fianna Fail leader’s strong words at the commemoration event shed light on the need for continued efforts to address unresolved issues and work towards a more just and transparent society.
