El Camino Health Hosts 13th Annual Heart Forum on “Empowering Hearts for Lifelong Wellness”
El Camino Health Shines Spotlight on Heart Disease Prevention in 13th Annual Heart Forum
Heart disease remains a leading cause of death in the Bay Area, underscoring the importance of prevention efforts. A recent survey by El Camino Health revealed that many adults are unaware of common lifestyle factors that impact heart health, such as alcohol consumption, smoking, lack of sleep, social isolation, and mental wellness.
Dr. Frederick St. Goar, medical director at the Norma Melchor Heart & Vascular Institute at El Camino Health, emphasized the significance of healthy lifestyle behaviors in preventing cardiovascular diseases. He highlighted the need for individuals to address modifiable risk factors like excessive alcohol intake, smoking, and poor sleep habits to improve heart health.
To raise awareness and empower the community, El Camino Health is hosting its 13th Annual Heart Forum on April 27. The event will feature interactive discussions with renowned physicians and heart experts, focusing on “Empowering Hearts for Lifelong Wellness.” Topics will include lessons from the Blue Zone, the impact of movement on longevity, treatment options, and a heart-healthy cooking demonstration.
Josh Schreckengost, executive director at the Norma Melchor Heart & Vascular Institute, emphasized the importance of a healthy heart in leading a fulfilling life. He highlighted the Annual Heart Forum as a platform to provide tools, resources, and knowledge to prevent heart disease.
