Lessons Learned from FSU’s College Lifestyle

Life Lessons Learned in College: Reflections from a Student Writer at FSU Her Campus

As a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter, I have experienced the ups and downs of college life firsthand. The last four years at Florida State University have been a journey of self-discovery and growth, teaching me valuable life skills that I believe every young woman should learn.

One of the biggest challenges I faced in college was managing friendships and familial relationships from a distance. Being away from my family for the first time was tough, and learning how to stay connected while juggling my own responsibilities was a learning curve. I quickly realized the importance of giving grace to both myself and my loved ones, even when phone calls and visits were few and far between.

Another lesson I learned was how to become a morning person (kinda). Despite never being a fan of early mornings, college forced me to adapt to early classes and hectic schedules. While I still have my moments of running late or feeling groggy, I’ve learned to laugh at myself and embrace the chaos of early mornings.

Getting myself out of a funk was another challenge I faced in college. Procrastination and self-doubt often crept in, but I found ways to reset my mind and focus on self-care. Whether it’s going for a walk, journaling, or hitting the gym, I’ve developed habits that help me stay positive and motivated.

Balancing social life and academics was also a key lesson I learned in college. While partying is a big part of the college experience, I quickly realized the importance of prioritizing my studies and responsibilities. Finding a balance between socializing and schoolwork was crucial for my success as a student.

As I prepare to graduate and move on to the next chapter of my life, I am grateful for the lessons and experiences that college has given me. The education I received at FSU goes beyond textbooks and lectures; it has shaped me into the person I am today. I may not have all the answers, but I am confident in the person I have become thanks to my time at Florida State University.
