Candace Cameron Bure Recalls Near-Death Experience on ‘Fuller House’ Set

Candace Cameron Bure recalls near-death experience while filming ‘Fuller House’ stunt

American actor Candace Cameron Bure recently shared a terrifying experience she had while filming a stunt for Netflix’s ‘Fuller House’. During an appearance on Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber’s podcast, Bure revealed that she “almost died” while performing a zipline stunt on the show.

The stunt involved Bure’s character, D.J. Tanner, taking on an American Ninja Warrior course in the living room. The actress was supposed to ride a zipline diagonally across the set and land on a platform. However, during rehearsal, the rig was not set up correctly, and there was no safety stop on the end of it. This resulted in the mechanism sliding off the track and coming dangerously close to Bure’s head.

Bure explained how the heavy metal mechanism missed her head by just an inch, leaving a big gash and denting the floor. She also mentioned that her onscreen love interest, Scott Weinger, witnessed the incident but couldn’t react fast enough to warn others on set.

Following the incident, the stunt guy was fired, and the director decided to redo the entire set to ensure the safety of the cast and crew. ‘Fuller House’, a reboot of the classic ’80s-’90s comedy Full House, starred Bure as D.J. Tanner, a 30-something widow raising three kids with the help of her sister Stephanie and childhood friend Kimmy Gibbler.

The series also featured cameo appearances from original cast members such as John Stamos, Bob Saget, Dave Coulier, and Lori Loughlin. Bure’s recount of the near-death experience has shed light on the risks involved in performing stunts for television shows, emphasizing the importance of safety measures on set.
