Academy of Essential Skills: Where Education and Life Skills Converge
Discover Back to the Basics Academy: A Farm-Based Educational Opportunity for Your Child
Bailee Farrer, a dedicated educator and farmer, is paving the way for a new educational experience for children with the launch of Back to the Basics Academy. With a background in animal science and agricultural education, Bailee is bringing a unique approach to learning that combines academic knowledge with practical skills.
Having earned her Bachelor of Animal Science degree from Berry College and a Master’s degree in Middle-Grade Science and Agricultural Education, Bailee has spent the past eight years teaching science and agriculture in the public school system. Now, she is taking her passion for hands-on learning to the next level with the creation of Back to the Basics Academy.
Located in the Gore Community of Chattooga County, Back to the Basics Academy offers children the opportunity to engage in a curriculum that focuses on activities such as cooking, money management, gardening, animal care, and teamwork. By emphasizing ‘learning by doing,’ Bailee ensures that every child has the chance to explore, experiment, and grow in a supportive environment.
One of the standout features of Back to the Basics Academy is its four-day-a-week program, allowing children ample time to immerse themselves in their learning experiences. This alternative to traditional schooling provides a farm-based learning environment that encourages children to develop essential life skills while also gaining academic knowledge.
For parents who have considered homeschooling but faced challenges, Back to the Basics Academy offers a compelling solution. By joining the academy, children can enjoy the freedom and flexibility of a farm-based learning environment while benefiting from diverse educational experiences.
