Taylor Swift releases new double album titled ‘Tortured Poets Department’ – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth
Taylor Swift Surprises Fans with Secret Double Album Release of “The Tortured Poets Department”
Taylor Swift surprised fans with the release of a second half of her highly anticipated album “The Tortured Poets Department” early Friday morning. The first 16 songs were made available at midnight, with a countdown on her website hinting at something more to come at 2 a.m. ET.
Swift announced that “Tortured Poets” is actually a “secret double album,” sharing an additional 15 songs with her fans. She described the album as an anthology of the tortured poetry she had written over the past two years, stating that now the story belongs to her fans.
Fans had previously noticed that none of the lyrics from a Spotify pop-up event in Los Angeles were featured in the album, leading to speculation and excitement among Swifties. The official fan account, Taylor Nation, responded to a fan’s observation with the hashtag #TTPDBoardMeeting.
The album’s release was not entirely unexpected, as some fans had noticed Swift incorporating the number two into various aspects of her recent appearances and announcements. The album’s total of 31 tracks makes it Swift’s longest album to date, surpassing “Red (Taylor’s Version)” by one song.
With this surprise release, Taylor Swift continues to captivate her fans and showcase her talent as a singer-songwriter.
