Three individuals arrested for suspected sexual abuse offenses involving minors in Yamhill County
Arrests Made in Yamhill County for Alleged Sex Abuse Crimes Against Children
The Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office made significant strides in combating sex abuse crimes against children this week with the arrest of three individuals in Sheridan, Oregon. The first pair of arrests, made on Monday, involved 41-year-old Kevin Kemp and 36-year-old Shannon Kemp. The arrests were based on a tip from a 16-year-old who reported that the couple had allegedly provided alcohol and marijuana to the teen and engaged in sexual contact multiple times.
Following the arrests of the Kemps, a separate arrest was made on Wednesday at a different residence in Sheridan. The arrest was the result of a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which led investigators to a suspect who had uploaded child sex abuse material online. Brendan Haynes, 27, was arrested and booked into the Yamhill County Jail on six counts of second-degree encouraging child sexual abuse.
The Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit played a crucial role in both cases, executing search warrants at the respective homes and seizing evidence that corroborated the allegations. The arrests highlight the importance of raising awareness about these crimes, especially during Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April.
The Sheriff’s Office emphasized the need for vigilance and cooperation in combating sex abuse crimes involving children, urging the community to report any suspicious activity. The arrests serve as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to protect vulnerable individuals and hold perpetrators accountable for their actions.
