Live Updates: Michael Cohen Testifies on Third Day of Trump Trial

Blanche questions Cohen’s testimony on phone call with Trump and Schiller

In a dramatic turn of events during the ongoing trial of Michael Cohen, Blanche, the lead prosecutor, finally began to question Cohen about the core allegations in the case after hours of attacking his character and credibility.

One of the key moments in the trial was when Blanche asked Cohen to recall a phone call he had with then-candidate Trump on Oct. 24, 2016, regarding his efforts to secure the rights to Stormy Daniels’ story. Cohen had previously testified that he spoke to Trump on the phone, with Trump’s then-bodyguard, Keith Schiller, putting him on the line. However, when pressed by Blanche, Cohen couldn’t confirm if the call was on speakerphone or if Trump picked up the phone himself.

Blanche then presented text messages from that evening, showing an exchange between Cohen and a person who had been prank-calling him. Cohen threatened to turn the teen in to the Secret Service, to which the person responded, “I didn’t do it, I’m 14, please don’t do this.”

Further text messages between Cohen and Schiller were shown, with Schiller instructing Cohen to call him just before the phone call with Trump. Blanche accused Cohen of lying about speaking to Trump regarding the Daniels deal, claiming that he was actually talking to Schiller about the harassing phone calls from a 14-year-old.

Cohen maintained that he did update Trump about the deal during the phone call, stating that he always ran everything by the boss immediately. Despite the intense questioning and accusations from Blanche, Cohen stood by his testimony, insisting that he had enough time in the brief phone call to address both issues.

The courtroom was filled with tension as Cohen’s credibility was called into question once again, leaving the outcome of the trial hanging in the balance. Stay tuned for more updates as the trial continues to unfold.
