Dallas-Fort Worth Business Owners Expressing Concerns About Rising Crime Rates

Prostitution Concerns on the Rise in Northwest Dallas: Business Owners Demand Action

Prostitution on Harry Hines Boulevard in Northwest Dallas has reached a new level of brazenness, with business owners and residents fed up with the blatant activity happening in broad daylight. The issue has become so problematic that it is no longer just a nighttime occurrence, but a daytime one as well.

According to Drew McGill, a broker representing millions of dollars worth of properties in the area, the growth in the Design District has pushed more prostitution into Northwest Dallas. He estimates that there are 30 to 50 girls working in the district at any given time, with Friday mornings being particularly busy as “Johns” cruise for company.

A recent private meeting between fed-up business owners and Dallas police addressed ongoing concerns about the issue. While police highlighted a 14% decrease in crime, many attendees left feeling unheard and frustrated. Luis Nuno, a business owner in the area, expressed his dissatisfaction with the lack of resources allocated to the police department by city officials.

Despite the challenges, DPD has conducted four operations targeting people soliciting prostitution in the Northwest Division since March, resulting in over 80 arrests. DPD spokeswoman Kristin Lowman emphasized that the department is committed to addressing the concerns of the community and will continue to work towards combating the issue.

As the situation on Harry Hines Boulevard continues to escalate, residents and business owners are calling for more resources and a different approach from law enforcement to effectively tackle the problem.
