Baldwin High Blanks Kamehameha Maui 6-0 to Advance to MIL Tournament Final
The Baldwin High School baseball team secured a spot in the Maui Interscholastic League Division I tournament final with a dominant 6-0 win over Kamehameha Maui. The game was highlighted by a solo home run from senior catcher Isaiah “Anu” Chaves, only the second homer of the season at Maehara Stadium.
Chaves, who has been a key player for the Bears for three years, expressed his excitement about the win and the team’s performance. The victory sets up a final showdown against top-seeded Maui High, with both teams boasting an 11-2 record.
Baldwin, aiming for their 13th consecutive MIL title, will face a tough challenge against Maui High, who haven’t won the title since 2008. The Bears’ starting pitcher, Kade Fujioka, delivered a strong performance, supported by Chaves behind the plate.
The Bears took an early lead in the first inning, with Kaden Anderson’s two-run triple setting the tone for the game. Despite some tense moments, Baldwin maintained their lead and secured the win.
The victory was a testament to the team’s hard work and dedication, with Chaves and Fujioka leading the charge. The Bears now have their sights set on the championship game, where they will look to continue their winning streak and secure another title for Baldwin High School.
