Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra accuses BJP of wanting to change Constitution, curtail people’s rights
In a fiery speech at a rally in Chhattisgarh’s Balod, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slammed the BJP-led Union government, accusing them of wanting to change the Constitution and curtail the rights of the people. She addressed the crowd in support of the Congress’ Kanker Lok Sabha candidate Biresh Thakur, decrying the use of religion in politics and stating that it goes against the tradition of the country.
Gandhi Vadra pointed out that several BJP leaders have openly stated that they want to change the Constitution if given enough Lok Sabha seats. She questioned whether these leaders could make such bold statements without the permission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She warned that any changes to the Constitution would impact everyone, leading to the loss of rights, including the right to ask questions.
The senior Congress leader criticized the BJP for focusing on showmanship rather than addressing real issues such as inflation and unemployment. She accused the government of working only for the benefit of a few industrialist friends of PM Modi, rather than the citizens. Gandhi Vadra highlighted the increasing inflation and unemployment rates, as well as the challenges faced by farmers due to the imposition of GST on farm implements.
She also took a swipe at the BJP for their alleged hypocrisy on issues like dynastic politics and corruption, pointing out how leaders who join the party suddenly become “clean.” Gandhi Vadra called out the government on the issue of electoral bonds, alleging that black money was being converted into white through these donations.
The Congress leader emphasized the importance of truth and service in politics, stating that leaders should focus on serving the people rather than engaging in drama and false promises. She urged the public to remember the traditions of the country, where leaders were held accountable for their actions and had to speak the truth in front of the public.
As the Lok Sabha elections approach, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s strong words against the BJP’s alleged attempts to change the Constitution and curtail people’s rights are likely to resonate with voters in Chhattisgarh and beyond. The upcoming polls in Kanker and Rajnandgaon on April 26 will be crucial in determining the future direction of the country.
