Man wanted in connection with shooting in Weldon; latest on heist investigation

Recent Law Enforcement Updates in Roanoke Valley: Weldon Shooting and Robbery Suspect Arrested

The Roanoke Valley has been rocked by recent criminal activity, with law enforcement reporting updates on two separate incidents.

In Weldon, a shooting that took place on East Sixth Street on the morning of April 21 has left the community on edge. The victim, who is thankfully recovering, was not the intended target of the attack. Weldon police Chief Christopher Davis has identified 32-year-old Collie Davis Jr. as the suspect in the shooting. Davis is wanted on multiple charges including assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a weapon into occupied property, and more. Despite efforts to locate him, Davis remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous. Chief Davis is urging Davis to surrender, and anyone with information is asked to contact the police department.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a man in Halifax County is facing charges for two separate robberies at the same business. Armel Triquan Deloatch, 23, has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon for a May 8 heist and with robbery and assault for a Friday night robbery at the same location. The Friday robbery involved Deloatch entering the store with a firearm and demanding money from the cashier and a patron. Deloatch is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear in district court for both incidents.

The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any information that may lead to the apprehension of these suspects. Law enforcement officials are working diligently to ensure the safety and security of the Roanoke Valley.
