The entertainment world is mourning the loss of veteran Los Angeles TV entertainment reporter Sam Rubin, who passed away at the age of 64. Rubin, who was the entertainment anchor for the KTLA Morning News, was a beloved figure in the industry, known for his charm, caring personality, and infectious laugh.

Colleague and KTLA anchor Frank Buckley announced Rubin’s death on air, expressing the station’s deep sadness at the loss. Rubin, who had been with KTLA since 1991, was a fixture on Los Angeles morning television for decades.

A decorated journalist, Rubin received numerous awards for his work, including the Golden Mike Award for best entertainment reporter and a lifetime achievement award from the Southern California Broadcasters Association. He was also a founding member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association.

In addition to his work on the KTLA Morning News, Rubin was known for his red carpet awards show coverage and his talk show “Hollywood Uncensored.” He was also a supporter of several Southern California non-profit organizations, including the MS 150 Bay to Bike Tour, which raises funds to find a cure for multiple sclerosis.

Retired NBCLA forecaster Fritz Coleman, who spoke with Rubin in an interview just a month ago, remembered him as having a larger-than-life personality that made him perfect for presenting Hollywood news.

Rubin’s passing has left a void in the entertainment reporting world, with many feeling like they have lost a friend and trusted source of show business wisdom. His legacy as a talented journalist and beloved television personality will not be forgotten.
