Man taken into custody for drug offenses following a high-speed pursuit

Man Arrested on Drug Charges After High-Speed Chase in Racine County

The Racine County Sheriff’s Office made a significant arrest on Sunday night after a high-speed chase ended in the apprehension of Lamar Hackett, 31, of Kenosha. Hackett faces a slew of charges, including possession of fentanyl and cocaine with intent to deliver, possession of a firearm by a felon, and obstructing an officer.

The chase began when a deputy observed Hackett driving a silver Mercedes-Benz at 80 mph in a 35-mph zone. After attempting to conduct a traffic stop, Hackett fled at a high rate of speed, leading law enforcement on a pursuit that ended in a crash in the woods.

During the pursuit, law enforcement discovered a baggie containing cocaine and fentanyl, as well as a stolen firearm in a backpack belonging to Hackett. A $30,000 cash bond has been set for Hackett, who is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on May 2.

This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of drug trafficking and the importance of law enforcement efforts to combat illegal activities in the community. Stay informed by signing up to receive local news updates directly to your inbox.
