Prosecution reveals ‘catch and kill’ scheme in hush money trial opening

Trump Attacks Cohen After Leaving Courtroom

In a dramatic turn of events, President Trump launched a scathing attack on his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, after leaving the courtroom where he is facing indictment. Trump, speaking to cameras outside the courtroom, criticized the prosecutors for charging him over what he called a “legal expense,” which he deemed a minor issue compared to other crimes.

“It’s a case as to bookkeeping which is a very minor thing in terms of the law, in terms of all the violent crime,” Trump stated. “This is a case in which you pay a lawyer and they call it a legal expense in the books.”

Trump expressed his frustration at being indicted for such a matter and claimed that the charges against Cohen had nothing to do with him. He also voiced his desire to be out campaigning in states like Georgia and Florida instead of being tied up in the trial.

The trial for the day concluded early to allow an alternate juror to attend an emergency dental appointment. Trump’s defense team made objections to parts of David Pecker’s testimony, with the prosecution arguing for its admissibility.

David Pecker, a key figure in the trial, described his relationship with Dylan Howard, the former editor-in-chief of the National Enquirer. Pecker admitted to engaging in “checkbook journalism” and revealed that the tabloid paid for stories, setting a limit of $10,000 for investigations.

As the trial continued, Trump appeared more alert and engaged, particularly as Pecker testified. Pecker’s testimony shed light on his role in the alleged hush money payment to Stormy Daniels and his efforts to suppress negative stories about Trump.

The prosecution called David Pecker to the stand, where he provided personal details and background information. Trump’s lawyer attempted to appeal to the jury’s common sense and New York roots in his opening statement, emphasizing the need for a fair trial.

The courtroom drama continues as the trial unfolds, with key witnesses and testimonies shaping the case against President Trump and his associates. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
