Kevin Bacon revisits ‘Footloose’ high school to celebrate film’s 40th anniversary
Kevin Bacon Returns to Utah High School for “Footloose” Reunion
Kevin Bacon made a triumphant return to Payson High School in Utah, where his iconic film “Footloose” was filmed back in 1984. The actor fulfilled his promise to visit the school after students launched a social media campaign, #BacontoPayson, to bring him back for their final prom.
The students at Payson High School went above and beyond to get Bacon’s attention, recreating movie scenes and choreographing videos to show their dedication. Their efforts paid off as Bacon appeared at the school’s football field on Saturday, expressing his surprise and gratitude for their tireless work.
As part of the campaign to bring Bacon back to campus, the students pledged to create 5,000 essential resource kits for his Sixdegrees.org foundation, which supports underserved communities. The organization aims to distribute up to 40,000 kits as part of its “Footloose40” initiative.
During his visit, Bacon was presented with an honorary Payson High School diploma and took the time to pose for photos with students. He even revisited his locker from the film, adding a nostalgic touch to the special occasion.
“Footloose” remains a beloved classic, with Bacon’s character fighting against a town that bans dancing. The movie’s message of freedom and self-expression continues to resonate with audiences, making the prom scene a fitting backdrop for Bacon’s return after 40 years.
